flat face on wider boards

  • I own a small delta 6" jointer(bought it before I got bitten by the ridgid bug). I imagine I would have the same problem with any 6" jointer.
How do I true a face on board that is 7" or wider?(i'd rather not remove the blade guard)

  • Two passes on the same face just make sure the gaurd can move out of the way.

  • With a 6" jointer you are limited to 6". Any wider will not clear the guard properly and will cause problems on the second pass to get that last inch. Really a thickness plainer is your best bet for facing boards.
