  • The electric outlets(sockets) in all the 3 bathrooms in my house have stopped working suddenly! I have only used one of them in the last 2 days. All the other sockets/lights etc are working fine. i checked the circuit breaker in my garage for any blown out fuses.. all seem to be working fine(i tested on the left end of the breakers..).. Can you guide me as to how to detect the source of the problem and fix it.

  • Thankyou for your comment. the outlets do not have any such buttons. Are the GFI same as these buttons ? I checked on the MAins-board. They have only the wide switches, and no additional buttons.

  • Britian may be different than the USA where I live. Except for houses more than 70 years old there are no fuses. The circuit breakers look like broad switches. Occasionally they appear not be tripped, but if you switch them off then back on they reset and power is restored to the outlets. You can test circuit breakers that are removed from the panel with a small battery and a torch = flashlight bulb or other low voltage light bulb. The circuit breaker replaces a peice of wire which completes the circuit. The bulb should light with the breaker on; not light if the breaker is off or defective. Neil

  • If all the non-functioning outlets are in bathrooms, you may want check the GFI (Ground Fault Interrupt). Each of the outlets (if new enough) may have a small button on them. This is an internal circuit breaker. Push the button in and see if the outlet starts working again. - Hammer

  • I'd like to clarify my problem further... The Main-switches to the whole house are on a single MAIN-board in my garage. I checked an available end of each of these switches.. and all of them worked fine. I am not able to find the fuses of each of these switches though. What should i do to test and identify the source of the problem and correct it ?
